Healthy Fruit Smoothie Recipes
If you've looked around our diet info and blog, you'll be aware that we've struggled to find healthy, great tasting foods.
So, here's some of our favourite smoothie recipes that we've enjoyed or created.
Not only is a smoothie a healthy eating option as part of your diet, but it's also easy and quick to make, making it an ideal snack or meal if you're short of time.
Most of these smoothy recipes are adaptable, add in whatever fruits and superfoods you have at home - try something new - that's the great thing about smoothies, that you user your ideas to create your own.
Ingredients to try:-
- honey
- jam
- bananas
- superfoods
One of our most recent new smoothies was one created by adding the remaining tropical fruit tabbouleh from Antony Worral Thompson's latest diabetic cookbook to a pot of yoghurt, liquidising it created a great tasting, vitamin-rich, smoothie.
Healthy Banana Smoothie
Ingredients
- 1 banana
- greek-style yogurt
- 1 tbsp honey
- 2 tsp wheat germ
- 1 cup of tinned peaches or mango
- Peel banana
- Place all ingredients in a blender
- Blend until smooth
- Serve immediately
Create Superfood Smoothies
Ingredients
- 1 banana, peeled and sliced
- ½ cup of crushed ice
- 2 cups yogurt
- ¼ cup honey
- 2 cups fresh or frozen berries (e.g. blueberries, raspberries, strawberries)
- Place all ingredients in a blender
- Blend until smooth
- Serve and enjoy!
Low Carb Smoothies recipe
- 1 banana
- 1 cup apple juice (fresh or boxed)
- 2 tbsp oatmeal
- 2 tbsp maple syrup or honey
- fresh or tinned fruit (if available)
- Place all ingredients in a blender
- Blend until smooth
- Serve immediately
