Healthy Gluten Free Pastry Recipe

Want to make healthier gluten free pies , pastries and quiche ?

 

This is a great savoury pastry recipe so perfect for making flans and quiches - you no longer have to miss out if you're on a gluten free diet.

Here's a pastry recipe to try that is made up of that great alternative, ground almonds (or almond flour in the US).

You may be used to using almonds in a sweet pastry, but surprised to see it here in a savory one.

The flavour tastes a little different, a bit nutty, and has a different texture, of course, but you can still create your favorite recipes with this great pastry.

Almond Pastry Recipe

Ingredients

  • 8oz ground almonds
  • 2oz butter/margarine
  • 1 egg yolk
  1. Mix the ingredients together
  2. As the mix is very soft, you will need to spoon it into your baking dish and spread round with the back of a spoon.
  3. Bake for 15 minutes at 180°C

Trying to reduce the fat in your quiche, replace cream with creme fraiche for a completely different texture.
