Roast Almonds with Paprika - a Traditional Tapas Recipe

This simple snack or starter is easy to prepare, yet so delicious.

Ideally shared before a meal with friends, this is part of the way of life in many of the countries around the Mediterranean.Fresh almonds - a traditional Spanish ingredient in tapas

We first tasted these unusual roast almonds at a cookery demonstration at our local Waitrose store, and are now  confirmed addicts!


  • 250g whole blanched almonds
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp hot paprika (also known as Picante Pimenton or smoked paprika)
  • 1½ tsps salt
  1. Turn oven to 150C/300F/GM2
  2. Dry roast almonds on a baking tray for 25 minutes
  3. Mix in with oil, paprika and salt
  4. Return to oven for a further 2-3 minutes
